CONTEXT
The UN Biodiversity Summit, COP16, held in Colombia in 2024, concentrated negotiations and decisions defining the future of global biodiversity into just a few days. For Latin American organizations, it was necessary to go beyond merely attending the summit; they needed a strategic reading, a common language, and clarity on which opportunities were key based on their advocacy objectives. Taking this reality into account, a service was created to convert scattered information into useful guidance for advocacy.

02
CHALLENGE
Transforming the volume of information and noise typical of a global summit into clear, actionable analysis for diverse audiences (Indigenous leaders, government representatives, technicians, and specialists), facilitating evidence-based decisions, spokesmanship, and positioning.
03
SOLUTION
We launched COP16 Insider, an open intelligence and analysis service that provided coverage of the summit’s preparation and follow-up:
- Curation of key signals: selection of news, announcements, and points of tension with real implications for the agenda and negotiations.
- Specialized analysis in accessible formats: articles and explanatory pieces that translate technical and political concepts into clear, actionable language.
- Engagement of an informed community: continuous distribution to maintain user engagement and enhance strategic reading skills throughout the summit.

04
IMPACT
COP16 Insider demonstrated that timely analysis enhances advocacy capabilities: it drove adoption, encouraged in-depth reading, and fostered sustained engagement.
- 5,200 views and 7,600 engagement events.
- 46.5% retention rate (sustained return to the service).
- 4 minutes and 12 seconds of average engagement time per user.
- Greater capacity for action: it helped key audiences better understand the summit, its implications, and how to maximize their leadership and impact in this space.
