Strategic Solution of Evidence in Visual Narrative for Decision-Making and Advocacy

IUCN | Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (ORMACC)

Country (ies): Global

Scope: Regional | Global

Year: 2024–2026

01

CONTEXT

At critical decision-making moments, such as presentations to international cooperation agencies, regional authorities, and technical audiences, ORMACC needed to convert complex inputs (technical text, cartography, project sheets, programmatic frameworks) into executive visual narratives using materials that drive political conversation, align actors, and accelerate agreements.

02

CHALLENGE

Translating science, territorial governance, and programmatic models into a visual language that is simultaneously:

  1. Rigorous without losing technical traceability.
  2. Readable for specialized and non-specialized audiences.
  3. Actionable, capable of mobilizing decisions and articulating advocacy strategies.

Guaranteeing institutional consistency and technical precision under highly demanding schedules. This involves conceptualization and production processes aimed at ensuring a flawless product, especially when managing complex assets like maps, data, and multiple involved projects.

03

SOLUTION

Operating as a strategic translation team, technical knowledge is transformed into impactful messages for decision-makers. The work is carried out under a proven methodology that guarantees coherence and clarity:

  • VOCES / STAR (rights-based conservation): Strategic intercultural adaptation and high-level graphic conceptualization of the STAR scientific metric. Complex data was transformed into a clear, highly impactful political infographic narrative in English and Spanish, conceptualized and designed for international audiences and high-level scenarios, such as the World Conservation Congress. The product stands out for the articulation of precise and simple information that communicates the "why", "how", and "what for" (common baseline, findings, recommendations, and expected impact), eliminating technical barriers and enhancing stakeholder access to the tool.
  • Mexico Regional Office (country materials): Synthesis and design of executive narratives for institutional positioning and relationship building, converting technical contents into direct, printable, and digital visual language, maintaining IUCN graphic consistency and high clarity for cooperation agencies and partners.
  • Tejiendo Redes / Small Grants (high-level presentation): Narrative structuring and executive design to present the mechanism and its projects in a comprehensible and convincing manner, featuring clear sheets, visual hierarchy, and a quick-reading logic for executives and cooperation agencies.

IMPACT

  • Evidence transformed into influence: Facilitating the presentation of complex topics such as science, rights, cartography, and programmatic mechanisms through specialized products that act as critical tools for dialogue, political advocacy, and decision-making among high-level audiences.
  • Technical rigor and clarity: Implementing a solution that guarantees immediate understanding while maintaining ORMACC's technical precision and institutional legitimacy.
  • Standardization and scalability: The visual and editorial system allows for updating contents, sustaining coherence across different fronts (VOCES, Mexico, Tejiendo Redes), and reducing technical dependency in future presentations.
  • International projection: The bilingual standard and the level of conceptualization enabled circulation in high-scrutiny global spaces, validating ORMACC's leadership before the global community.
